Hey guys sorry it's been so long! I've been really busy with work and never really have the energy to do my nails often so i have decided to change this blog to things that inspire me everyday, things i've bought and just random crap that i feel like sharing :) so now for a picture post of what i've been upto!
This is Reuben, he delivered a newspaper to my door and i knew from then i wanted to be with him. Weird how these things happen?
The beautiful cake my wonderful mummy and sister made me for my 21st.
Fun times at the beach with my nephew
A ring and oversized clutch i bought myself for my 21st.
Much needed new jewellery holders.
My halloween mani which lasted a whole 10 minutes.
My gorgeous little Coco.
Picture heavy post now over time for some music i've been replaying all week,
Hi guys, I've started a new job on my days off this week i tried a mani inspired by forever the ugly duckling you can find the mani here. I highly suggest you check out Marina's blog, I'm always getting inspired by everything she posts. Onto the mani.
I tried out one of my new wetnwild polishes called Shiver, i love the colour but it chips so easily so i don't think il be using it again until i find a way to make it hold better. So i started with a base coat, then wetnwild Shiver. For the snow i used a generic silver glitter. For the base of the penguin i used Sally Hansen hard as nails Xtreme wear 28 Black out which is a great black, it is almost opaque in one coat and only cost me $12. For the stomach and eyes i used Lancome white. For the beak i used a peachy orange and then a coat of Seche Vite.
I'm not that fond on it, i think i would use a different base and a more vibrant silver for the snow, other than that i love it. I did really well on my first day at work so i decided to treat myself to one of color clubs scented nail polishes. I just couldnt get it to dry properly so kept smudging it :/ I got Gimme a grape big kiss, and it smells delicious even when i took it off my nails still smelt of it, yum! If i can figure out how to make it dry and not smudge i might look at getting the whole collection.
Hi guys sorry its been a while, I haven't done my nails in a while but i decided to treat myself to the turquoise shatter by OPI. At first i hated it because i put it over black, then decided a pink would look good.
I've been wearing it for about a week so excuse the chips but i just had to show you! I think these colours work awesome together, and i was so impressed with this shatter. The application is great and the cracks don't seem to get bigger over the days which is a big plus for me. The only thing i can complain about is the bottle, on all the shatters on the top there is the silver crackle thing, they just slip off because they're a plastic cover which put me off but I will be collecting all the OPI shatters now!
I sorted out all of my polishes and found them a new home because shoe boxes seemed mean.
Theres a few missing because i never seem to put them back after i'm done haha.
This is probably by far the worst nail art i've done in my whole life, the rainbow just didn't want to work and i manged to knock it, and spilt half of my SV...... this will be my last mani for a while cause ive chopped all my nails off cause they were still damaged from the horrible acrylics i got months ago and because i need to disaplin myself for something stupid! Anyway heres the terrible mani
Sorry i haven't updated in a while, been busy with a few things. So i have two different manis for you, the first one is a very teenage girl inspired haha!
This was for the hubby and i hadn't cleaned up yet. I love it because it reminds me of being 13 and having a huge school girl crush and putting it onto your nails! I've been using a different base coat to try and make my nails a bit healthier its a rimmel one i think, anyway i started with that, then two coats of For Audrey China Glaze, coat of SV then did the letters with Art Deco nail art polish, the heart with Elephantastic Pink OPI and Lancome white for the little dot then a coat of SV. Then i've got my next one to show you.
This is probably my most favorite nail art I've done. It was SO simple and easy and only took me 20 mins. You will need a dotting tool or a toothpick. So i started with a base coat, then For Audrey China Glaze, then with my Lancome white i did the little semicircle (i did this free hand because i couldn't get the tape right) Then with the dotting tool i made the ears and three smaller dots, i used Art Deco black, then when thats dry just put two little dots for the eyes! Its very simple. I suggest buying a dotting tool, its the best thing I've bought so far!
Meows and kisses!! xo
p.s here is a different picture of one of my earlier manis
Well i guess it isn't really a haul but probably the most nail polish i have bought at one time surprisingly, so today i went into Wellington City and found a store that had so much cosmetics and perfumes at a really good price. They didn't have as much of a selection of polish as i'd hoped but i managed to pick up four Sally Hansen's for $3 a pop. The colours i got are (from the left in) 03 Glow, 08 Glossy, 04 Flash and 06 Spark.
Glow is a shimmery green which is pretty thin so would need a few coats and maybe a white base coat. Glossy is a reddy brown which would probably only need one coat. Flash is a shimmery blue which i would probaby use a white base for too and Spark is a gorgeous dark blue with a hint of purple which only needs one coat as well. I'l try and do a new mani later but i have the hugest headache ever :(
My camera has been dead for the past week and i couldn't be bothered charging it till now. This week i decided to try out my new dotting tools and do a basic polka dot design with my two favorite colours to put together.
I've been wearing this for about 4-5 days now so ignore the chips and the dint on my pointer finger!
For this i used my OPI base coat (which i am going to change soon because I've heard of other good ones) OPI Mrs. O'Learys BBQ for the base, OPI Elephantastic Pink for the dots and SV. It's very basic but i love it might try it with brown and light green next.
Hey guys, arrived back from Gisborne a few days ago. Glad to be home, but i miss everyone there already! While i was there my little cousin asked me to go nail polish shopping with her to chose out nice colours, in the Chinese shop i spotted this amazing ruby red shimmer polish and at $2 i had to have it. I was a bit dubious at how well it would apply but seriously, it would of been a one coater if my nails weren't wrecked from the horrible acrylics i had. It took over an hour for a pro to get them off..... poor little twinklys :( Anyway back to the polish, i couldnt quite capture the true colour and shimmer but you will get the jist. >
Ignore the stupid lump on my middle flinger, still have bits of the acrylic that won't come off!
No idea why its showing up pink, its a ruby red. Now to show you the bottle which is probably my favorite out of all of mine!
So pretty :D Normally i don't like plain nails but i think doing something over it would ruin it butttt before i take it off i want to try black crackle over it in a funky way. Also, my top coat ate most of the sparkles so next time a different top coat will be used. The true colour makes me want to frolic down a yellow brick road!
I did this mani on my sister, and oh my god i love it! We were just going to do my usual tips with glitter but i showed her my China Glaze For Audrey and she wanted that insted! >
We hadn't cleaned up yet cause we have an early start tomorrow. To do this i applied a base coat, two coats of For Audrey then tapped of her nails then added China Glaze crackle in black then got my striping brush and did a line of silver glitter and viola! I really really love it and im so tempted to take mine off and play around with different colours! Anyway i am off tomorrow to my Nannas where i have no internet for two weeks, had a very rough day today and need the space away from home.
I bought a acrylic nail voucher off one of the one day deal sites here in New Zealand, i was really excited because i'd never got my nails done professionally. I turned up to the womans house, she works from home... and jesus everything was a tip and it smelt like dog but i didn't want to jump to conclusions as she could of been a really good nail artist.... man was i wrong. She was really rough and managed to damage almost all my cuticles while filing and buffing the acrylic down, she even ripped skin off on two of my nails, one of them i have to keep a plaster on! The nails don't look too bad, but one of the thumb nails isn't smooth and shes buffed away too much on a few of them. Here they are >
ouchies :(
Can anyone give me any tips or help to get them back to normal quickly? And has anyone else ever had this happen? I don't even want to go to a salon now i've been so badly put off! sigh, on a lighter note, I'm off to Gisborne in a few days and i won't be back for a few weeks, there is no internet so no posts! Which is probably a good thing because im sure my nails will need alot of time to heal :(
So this weeks mani is very boring and quite ugly in my eyes but i kinda like it.... Any way i picked up some craft scissors the other day couldn't find any i wanted apart from a smooth wavy line like the green/yellow pair here >
heres a few more different ones
Now you can normally pick them up for about $2 either from a stationary shop or a dollar store. I love them apart from the kiddy lock on them, so annoying! Anyway onto the mani!
I was looking through old pictures and saw a picture of me wearing my YSL bright orange polish and had to try it out again. It has aged pretty well seen as its 2+ years old, still goes on exactly the same as the day i bought it.
I was really into orange at the time and this was perfect, it takes about two coats to get a decent coverage but it dries quite fast so an extra coat wouldn't bother me. After i'd put it on i spied my scissors and decided to play around with them. Our house somehow has no usable tape so i used those white name sticker things... i don't even know what they're called oh well. I just can't decide if i love it or hate it. Only webcam pictures because its not even worth HQ pictures >.<
I used an OPI basecoat, then two coats of the YSL orange then cut the stickers as skinny as i could get them with the craft scissors then painted on the generic black and then used SV, remember to pull the tape/stickers off before the paint dries! It's different but i don't think i'l be trying it again. Maybe skinnier and a few more lines? hmph.
Meows and kisses! xoxo
p.s can anyone recomend a really good black thats almost opaque in one coat?
